It's the most craft fair time of the year. There are craft fairs everywhere, some lasting a day, some the entire weekend. This last one I did was a one day one. I'm finding I like these more and more; yes I have to do everything in terms of set up and take down in one day, but it also leaves me one day on a weekend to do everything else.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
This latest one was the <a data-mce-href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1218111214889041/" href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1218111214889041/">Charity Craft Fair</a> held in the beautiful Woodwards building. </div>

The organizers had said to dress warm since there were 3 entrances to the atrium where the fair was being held. Holy chilliness Batman! There is no cold like a damp cold which gets into your bones and refuses to leave. But they had a beautiful tree set up which made it seem less chilly.</div>

There was also a lot of traffic going by because of the stores that surrounded us. Funnily enough, the soaps I thought would sell, all the Christmas soaps, didn't. On the bright side, that means I don't have to make any more for the next show.</div>

Well I'm sure it's started for many people, and for some it's never-ending, but this past Saturday was my first for this year.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
It was the first time for these organizers, and my goodness, what a huge job it is! I admire people who take on the job of organizing fairs, it is enough work for me to make all my soaps and bath bombs for fairs, I can't imagine trying to set up, promote and take down everything around the craft fair as well.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
It was going to be a dark and stormy day, so that could either work in the fair's favour in that people would come in droves to have something to do but be out of the rain, or it could work against us in that people would rather cozy down with Netflix.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 16px;">
We lucked out with the weather, in that it didn't rain during setup or take down. However, it also didn't seem to drive people to the fair in droves either.</div>

Fortunately for me, I did make a few sales with the hopes of getting some future business from them. Craft fairs are always a learning experience, and I've learned that with the help of good friends, I can have it set up in less than 1.5 hours. :D</div>

Since I acquired some new heart moulds (my old one is dying a slow death) I went a little crazy with using up leftover bits of soap to make new ones.<br />
<br />
It's hard to see the colouring since I still haven't gotten around to getting super clear soap, but you get the idea.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pqfa04LqsSI/V3xlkY8AV3I/AAAAAAAANXs/uRTsRbVw5-0FMp_dX9Z91cuAwuDHSyPfgCLcB/s1600/DSC07549.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pqfa04LqsSI/V3xlkY8AV3I/AAAAAAAANXs/uRTsRbVw5-0FMp_dX9Z91cuAwuDHSyPfgCLcB/s320/DSC07549.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Kinda hard to see in this one, but there are 3 hearts inside the big one. The red background makes it hard to see the yellow heart.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hyp6L8Y1uMk/V3xlx3VLX4I/AAAAAAAANYE/YS3LnREX3I8U9kBs4ZP9f7LB5xHiICgsgCLcB/s1600/DSC07552.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="254" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hyp6L8Y1uMk/V3xlx3VLX4I/AAAAAAAANYE/YS3LnREX3I8U9kBs4ZP9f7LB5xHiICgsgCLcB/s320/DSC07552.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This one shows I need to work on my embed, clear portion and photography. It's supposed to be 3 hearts but the middle one, which is yellow, gets kinda lost. Kinda like a lot of middle children, right? </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sF4vitP8RjM/V3xl4kXxkPI/AAAAAAAANYM/FrnRE1u9DI0aX0B0UM6vK-yfN-Ne8YePgCLcB/s1600/DSC07557.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sF4vitP8RjM/V3xl4kXxkPI/AAAAAAAANYM/FrnRE1u9DI0aX0B0UM6vK-yfN-Ne8YePgCLcB/s320/DSC07557.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This one is my favourite, partly because you can see the hearts more clearly (even with my bad photography job) and I like the white background seeing off the clear red portion.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">
Have a lovely week!</div>

I have made these soaps with scraps that were left over from making other things, shredding some of them for a prettier effect. Okay, that's a lie, I was trying to make curls and they weren't turning out, so I ran them through the grater. But I think they do add some interesting texture.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This one was using leftover leftovers. I had some soap left in the cup, so I added some more into it, didn't bother stirring and this is the result for the first layer. I like how the colours are kinda melted into each other giving it a sort of planet like look.</div>

I'm happy for her because she will have time to go relax and enjoy life, but it will be sad for all the up and coming students who will not get to learn music under her tutelage. From what I've seen, she's a great teacher and the stuff she teaches the primary kids are so much fun, while the intermediate students learn to read music and play instruments.<br />
<br />
As a farewell to her, I've made a music themed soap. I would love to have had a musical note or something, but the closest eraser I had to that was a guitar. The colours are our school colours, and I scented it with sun ripened cherries by WSP because, well it's just about cherry season.<br />

Pour the other half of the donut, let both sides solidify, then curse when they won't stick together properly.<br />
<br />
After seeing how some others make their donuts I tried to emulate it. I still cursed the two sides for not sticking properly, but by glazing the top and letting it run down the side, I think it helps to hold it together a bit better. Plus, I added more colouring this time, which I think makes it look much better. Scented with WSP's Grandma's Griddle FO, it smells like a real donut. Also, this time I used real sprinkles and I think that adds to the real-ness of the donut.<br />

But this time, I'm quite happy with the results. Those soapers who've been using suspension bases create the most beautiful designs, and while this isn't the same, it's not bad.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I used my usual guest (or in my case, experiment) sized loaf mould, and even though I thought I had divided the amount of soap correctly, I forgot to factor in the fact that not all the soap comes out of the container...ever. So these turned out smaller than I was expecting, but they still look cool. And you remember the flowers from a couple of weeks ago, right?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I took the advice of some other MP soapers and used leftover coroplast as my dividers. Next time, I'll have to remember to wrap them in plastic wrap, otherwise soap seeps into the crevices. The soap set up a little quicker than I wanted, partly because I'm still learning how to use Stephenson's bases properly, partly because when you heat the soap too many times, it tends to harden a little quicker each time. So I didn't get to make the swirls as nice as I wanted, but I think it still came out pretty cool looking.</div>

<br />
Last week, I was admiring the packaging of soaps done by the very sweet and talented <a href="http://mignonnesvenezvoirsi.blogspot.ca/2016/05/emballages.html">Madame Propre</a>. She had her beautiful soaps wrapped in cellophane with ribbon, all done so nice and neat, they looked perfect. I told her how much I liked them and she suggested ali express.<br />
<br />
Then I remembered, hey, my sister gave me a bunch of swatches to make into bags, why don't I use up those first? So here are some of the bags I've made so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G5GZvtC5U7k/V1S_nmXjv4I/AAAAAAAANLA/C3m3p16SVNsA_HIBhEn0B27yrmfInhVgQCLcB/s1600/DSC_0014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G5GZvtC5U7k/V1S_nmXjv4I/AAAAAAAANLA/C3m3p16SVNsA_HIBhEn0B27yrmfInhVgQCLcB/s320/DSC_0014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4F0Y2KjBAoU/V1S_oE3TreI/AAAAAAAANLE/tw41e9UYItUBbWEevkyS75_GOWGuc3OBgCLcB/s1600/DSC_0016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4F0Y2KjBAoU/V1S_oE3TreI/AAAAAAAANLE/tw41e9UYItUBbWEevkyS75_GOWGuc3OBgCLcB/s320/DSC_0016.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Brea9dooJQ/V1S_rhaTKhI/AAAAAAAANLM/HEq310vHzWwTKAXXHgNox-hLB7KcizfgQCLcB/s1600/DSC_0012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--Brea9dooJQ/V1S_rhaTKhI/AAAAAAAANLM/HEq310vHzWwTKAXXHgNox-hLB7KcizfgQCLcB/s320/DSC_0012.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm still working on the best way to close the bags. The straight ribbon tie is fine, but I'm not great at tying bows, as you can tell. The side ribbon, I'm not sure if it's going to work or not, and it really should be pulled into the middle, not the side. The one that doesn't look like it is closed has snaps on it, and the last one, would use up my random collection of buttons, but is a bit more time consuming. Any ideas?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
How do you like to wrap things up, so to speak? Have a great week!</div>
<br />

No wait, I can't. Why? Because I'm still not using a clear base. I thought the honey base would provide a nice glow, giving the soap a sunshine-y feel to it, but it's given it more of a "I haven't cleaned my sunglasses so things are kinda blurry" feel to it instead. But it smells nice at least, scented with black raspberry vanilla.<br />

That and I had this guy sitting around doing nothing.<br />
<br />
I needed a big enough mould to fit both embeds in and this seems to be the only one that does the trick. Hence why so many of the soaps I make have the scalloped edge. At least I'm putting it to good use.<br />

<br />
There have been so many MP soapers making gorgeous swirl soaps, but you need suspension based bases to do it properly. I haven't purchased more bases of late, so I did it the old fashioned way of pouring two colours simultaneously into the mould. The first one is a nicer contrast, but the second one is probably more calming.<br />

You do a job that many of us couldn't: take care of others while doing a gazillion other things. And this is why I don't have kids, let alone pets and barely plants, I don't have the skills to do it all.<br />
<br />
There was a storybook I loved as a child, called <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/109993.My_Mother_is_the_Most_Beautiful_Woman_in_the_World">My Mother is the Most Beautiful Woman in the World</a>, about a child who is looking for his mother, and describes her as the most beautiful woman in the world. I think the same is true the other way around, moms think their kids are the most beautiful things in the world, regardless of whether or not the rest of the world thinks so.<br />
<br />
So, I present to you, my "child". I'm realistic enough to know it's not beautiful, in fact, my hubby looked at it, and said it has a more "adult" look to it than looking like a stormtrooper embedded in a heart (in case you can't see it), but it's a labour of love, like most children. It was a difficult one to do because of the curve on the heart and the stormtrooper wasn't exactly a flat piece either. But we love our kids, warts, curves and odd behaviours and all, right?<br />
<br />
I hope your kids, if you have any, treat you to an extra something special today, but that they also treat you every like it's Mother's Day.<br />

Such was this idea.<br />
<br />
I thought it'd be cool to do a pseudo <a href="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/C3gUTR-zOAU/hqdefault.jpg">Han Solo frozen in carbonite</a> from <a href="http://www.starwars.com/films/star-wars-episode-v-the-empire-strikes-back">The Empire Strikes Back </a>scene. Without a Han Solo doll. Without carbonite either, or anything else from that scene for that matter. Just the sci fi sort of idea. Never mind. Well it does have the Death Star, so there's the Star Wars link.<br />
<br />
I've been <strike>hoarding</strike> waiting for a good time to use these adorable little aliens ever since my sister gave me her soaping supplies, and figured it's time to stop hoarding (at least little plastic figurines) and start putting them to good use.<br />
<br />
I didn't mind the Stephenson soaps being a bit more cloudy in this application, although it would be way cooler if you could almost see the alien inside, but maybe it'll just make washing more fun.<br />

Seeing how it's spring time, I decided on some springtime themed embeds.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jh6UdhyyYag/Vx2fJLuuynI/AAAAAAAAM1I/RXMv7Xwy2ukIl2jyyJN2AbBaQbwqqCmxgCLcB/s1600/P1100287.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jh6UdhyyYag/Vx2fJLuuynI/AAAAAAAAM1I/RXMv7Xwy2ukIl2jyyJN2AbBaQbwqqCmxgCLcB/s320/P1100287.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I think this would make lovely giveaways at weddings, once I get some super clear soap. I think the main thing that I find disappointing is not being able to see the background too well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VgHNG6K-Hns/Vx2fo3eaJKI/AAAAAAAAM1M/AA9CBT6zG9Y0VcclqhWlSqvBBHtw6do2wCLcB/s1600/P1100289.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VgHNG6K-Hns/Vx2fo3eaJKI/AAAAAAAAM1M/AA9CBT6zG9Y0VcclqhWlSqvBBHtw6do2wCLcB/s320/P1100289.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You can see it from the back side here, but the swan ends up looking like a duck. So not elegant (sorry ducks!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F7IoDtx-hvg/Vx2gEVJOySI/AAAAAAAAM1U/95TrhV-qj5EI3k2HHQn8VDnUNEFhM6JHgCLcB/s1600/P1100278.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F7IoDtx-hvg/Vx2gEVJOySI/AAAAAAAAM1U/95TrhV-qj5EI3k2HHQn8VDnUNEFhM6JHgCLcB/s320/P1100278.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Another thing that says spring to me, even though I don't play, is golf. This one was partly due to the fact I had made a half a golf ball, and had no clue what to do with it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FuHGmD-3XNc/Vx2hX3SEEqI/AAAAAAAAM1w/tBArG4IUCtUUrNMIa3ZflTZxiRgyLjT9wCLcB/s1600/P1100295.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FuHGmD-3XNc/Vx2hX3SEEqI/AAAAAAAAM1w/tBArG4IUCtUUrNMIa3ZflTZxiRgyLjT9wCLcB/s320/P1100295.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
As you can see, it's a little higher than clear soap, but that works too right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gAR1VoLMymE/Vx2hjjEt3_I/AAAAAAAAM10/JuD_-0DNB4gEi25IH0VEuyRF4N9kGSTZQCLcB/s1600/P1100296.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gAR1VoLMymE/Vx2hjjEt3_I/AAAAAAAAM10/JuD_-0DNB4gEi25IH0VEuyRF4N9kGSTZQCLcB/s320/P1100296.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I hope you're having a lovely start to the spring season and have a great week!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I usually buy from Otion (Brambleberry's storefront) but with the exchange being as it was, I decided to buy local, but purchase a brand that's well known.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It turned out, well not as expected. First of all, it's not the white base, even though it looked pretty darned white when I bought it. Secondly, it's not as clear glycerin as I expected clear soap to be.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5dpuYaTLYOQ/VxQd4hVXeDI/AAAAAAAAMq8/vj2DSllvcQ80QSKI-arLxVt_j-h-VpuwQCLcB/s1600/P1100275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5dpuYaTLYOQ/VxQd4hVXeDI/AAAAAAAAMq8/vj2DSllvcQ80QSKI-arLxVt_j-h-VpuwQCLcB/s320/P1100275.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My only consolation with this is that the bottom is scented with grapefruit FO which smells delicious. That and I'm not a baseball fan anyway.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I love deluding myself with that, almost as much as I love deluding myself that I'm taller than I actually am. :D<br />
<br />
This time, it wasn't Pinterest (well it's probably there too), but of course, the one, the only <a href="http://www.brambleberry.com/">Soapqueen</a>. I wanted so badly to make something similar to her <a href="https://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/melt-and-pour-soap/thai-tea-melt-and-pour-bars-tutorial/">Thai Tea soap</a>, but as a coffee one instead.<br />
<br />
I kinda feel like Murphy's Law rules my world. I guess it partly has to do with impatience and really, there are only so many times MP soap wants to be melted.<br />
<br />
The coffee part turned out fine. I added in real coffee grounds and used chocolate espresso FO from Brambleberry. Smells delicious.<br />
<br />
My cream part though, didn't come out as well. First, I melted some new base that I thought was white. Turns out, it's a lot clearer when it's melted. Oh, well then we'll use some goat's milk base that I had used previously and need to make into something else. The coffee part solidified quickly, and so I tried to use a fork to push the cream part into it. It's only semi successful though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i2ehS604nJo/Vws14nIMvQI/AAAAAAAAMSU/GaH06I5xbxkMgMOCQKcPxpBKkpzWQqXGQ/s1600/P1100265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i2ehS604nJo/Vws14nIMvQI/AAAAAAAAMSU/GaH06I5xbxkMgMOCQKcPxpBKkpzWQqXGQ/s320/P1100265.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I tried to make a whipped topping, but my hand mixer died (not sure why, it's only been around since I was in grade school), so I tried to whip it up quickly by hand. But by that time, the cream portion had solidified enough that the whipped topping didn't sit on it so well. I'm going to have to use some clear soap to stick it on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I wasn't really inspired to do much soaping, and it's a vicious circle. I don't update my website, so no one looks, so no buyers, so I don't want to soap. Ad nauseum.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I went to the FB Melt and Pour group for inspiration and there's been a lot of talk about a soaper named <a href="http://www.sentinelcandles.com.au/">Dean Wilson of Sentinel Candles</a>. Mr. Wilson is kind enough to have a YouTube channel where he shows how he creates some of his lovely soaps. Using his inspiration in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltkHOSmo0Dg">Monkey Farts #3</a>, I created this.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--M5nk3SjpPc/VwGagd69SkI/AAAAAAAAJj4/9wDXMFk1o1kyuDSyqCuA19pcnJt2LIKGA/s1600/P1100232.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="79" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--M5nk3SjpPc/VwGagd69SkI/AAAAAAAAJj4/9wDXMFk1o1kyuDSyqCuA19pcnJt2LIKGA/s320/P1100232.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Scent: Morning Rain</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bl_Mg9g9Glo/VwGavyN0m3I/AAAAAAAAJkU/mRqyvmd5Gh8Padd5RuY9WAHSVUKdC4Z1g/s1600/P1100236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bl_Mg9g9Glo/VwGavyN0m3I/AAAAAAAAJkU/mRqyvmd5Gh8Padd5RuY9WAHSVUKdC4Z1g/s320/P1100236.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wKRv-UOc9nw/VwGa1_LeOEI/AAAAAAAAJkg/9R7EcEvrUZkDhq3D0yLtYXavV1M8dGh1w/s1600/P1100239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wKRv-UOc9nw/VwGa1_LeOEI/AAAAAAAAJkg/9R7EcEvrUZkDhq3D0yLtYXavV1M8dGh1w/s320/P1100239.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unfortunately, the way these are cut, and probably the shape, it doesn't show the diamond shaped embeds. Mr. Wilson had used full spheres, but I decided on using only half spheres as it allowed me to pour in the different layers, since the mould I used was an ice cube mould.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Have a great week everyone!</div>

Spring time: to me, spring is around the corner when I see cherry blossoms. Although it's only mid-March, we've got tons of cherry blossoms in bloom here. If I had a dog, I'd take it as a sign that it's that time of year when Lassie gets her first bath of the year because it'd have been too cold during winter to subject her to one.<br />
<br />
I made these using a clear base, and put in tea tree oil for its antiseptic properties, cedarwood as a flea repellant and lavender because it'll make poochy smell nice and is also a flea repellant.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I tried 3 different mould styles and while I like the dog house look, the bones came out the best.<br />

SoapSudsationshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11718909493010782389noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8406769703698885901.post-14247106014375109702016-02-28T16:03:00.000-08:002016-02-28T16:03:49.339-08:00The devil is in the detailsor in this case, it's in the lack of details. Mine, not the mould.<br />
<br />
Gosh darn it's hard to fill in fine details when the lighting in your craft room is bad. I knew this before, but this time, the end result really shows what lack of lighting can do (or not do) when you're working with finicky details.<br />
<br />
This mould has some beautiful detailing, as you can see, but I didn't clean them up as well as I should've. The result is that the patterning looks asymmetrical and not as perfect as could be. Also, in hindsight, I should've put the blue layer between the orange and yellow to allow them both to shine through.<br />

<br />
I love making stuff for the bath, even though I rarely use the stuff. I think I'd be more inclined to have long luxurious soaks if I had a nice, clawfoot tub. Instead, I have a very utilitarian tub with a very straight back, which doesn't lend itself to spending a lot of time in it.<br />
<br />
That said, I still do very much enjoy making bath salts and bath fizzies for others. I haven't made much in terms of bath bombs because I didn't have the usual round mould for them, that is until this past Christmas when my sister gave me her set, along with the ingredients for the bath bombs.<br />
<br />
I followed the instructions for making the bath bombs, which is sort of like this <a href="https://www.brambleberry.com/Pikake-Flower-Bath-Bomb-Kit-P6214.aspx">one</a>, but rather than using LaBomb colourant, I figured it was a good way to clean up the mica that spilled. I think the bath bombs turned out very pretty.<br />

<br />
My sister gave me a knitting kit once upon a time, and I thought these booties looked adorable.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JPY3sCRlvpk/Vrk0Rn-eQoI/AAAAAAAAHgI/eux0bhiTWLg/s1600/P1080854.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JPY3sCRlvpk/Vrk0Rn-eQoI/AAAAAAAAHgI/eux0bhiTWLg/s320/P1080854.JPG" width="230" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was a relatively easy pattern to follow, but of course, even the simplest instructions, be it to make a knitting project, or to make a soap, still takes finesse to make it look good.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used some bits of yarns to cobble together one big piece, but by the time I finished, I couldn't be bothered to make the pom poms. I'm sure they'd totally take the bootie to the next level, so maybe I'll make it eventually.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Not quite the same as the picture, but close enough for government work, as my sister likes to say.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">With a soap in it. Looks almost like an old Chinese slipper, doesn't it?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>

<br /></div>
How do you present your soaps? Oh, and happy Valentine's Day, if you're so inclined. :)<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

She taught me to knit socks, not something most people would start with, but a useful and useable project to learn.<br />
<br />
In my last visit, she gave me some yarns and suggested I make some scrubbies. What a great way to use up last bits of yarn! It's a great project to work on while watching tv, and eventually I hope to try and make some nice dishcloths as well. They'd make great wrapping for soaps and can be used as dishcloths or re-used as gift wrap. These scrubbies are filled with the mesh bags that many fruits come in, so not only are these scrubbies good for cleaning (I have one in my kitchen that works great!), they are a great example of being green (IMO, of course!)<br />

Those pieces of soap came out in fun spirals which made for pretty embeds.<br />
