Finished at last, finished at last (with apologies to MLK)

I was hoping to have the toque completed before yesterday, so that I could tell y'all about it. However, as usual, my knitting projects are more about deconstructing than moving forward. I had almost completed before I realized I didn't read the instructions correctly. My bad, and that meant more unravelling before moving forward again.

Yesterday I was also hit with a huge sneezing and snuffling fit which my co-worker told me was probably a cold. Whoever said that sneezing is like having the big O has not done it consecutively for 2 hours. I was tuckered out by the time I got home and after a quick dinner, went straight to bed to try and sleep this cold off.

It wasn't until this afternoon I finally completed my project, and here is the final result. Let's just hope it fits on hubby's head.

  1. OMG! I am soooooo pathetic! You can't go and finish a knitting project and on top of that, do it while you are sick!! Sheesh woman, you are putting me to shame. Now don't mind me while I go to a corner and sulk because I really am the worst procrastinator in the world. But in the meantime... Totally laughing my butt off at your big O comment. Lolll! Your toque turned out great! I am sure your hubby will love it.

    1. I wasn't sick enough not to finish it, I mean it wasn't like I was dripping snot all over my knitting needles or anything. ;D Also, remember, I don't have kids or pets to take care of, my time is my own, esp when hubby's distracted with his own thing.

If only sneezing burned calories like sex is said to do, I'd have a supermodel's body by now.

The toque turned out well enough, it's not long enough for him to roll up the ends but it will keep his head warm.

  2. Good for you for finishing this! You might want to roll up the rim/band so it looks more like a toque and less like the "willie-warmers" that my friend Stace knits for her sheep. LOL!

I'm still waiting to buy needles so I can knit a hat for hubby...and possibly one for myself because, dagnabbit, it's taking me forever to crochet one.

    1. I should've been smart and measured his head to see how long I'd have to knit to have a rim he could roll up (a la Tim Hortons?) Because you're right, it does look like it would be warming up a diffferent anatomy the way it is right now.

I should send you my needles because I probably won't be knitting another hat for a while.

    2. Um, yeah, anything fitted needs to be worked from a measurement. :} I don't usually bother with gauge, but I do measure the head circumference of whoever's getting the hat so I can at least approximate it. Live and learn! You need to knit a second one that fits, and by that time, you'll love knitting hats so much, you'll want to keep the needles! Besides, I already bought the DPNs that I need, thanks. :)

    3. I'm learning, slowly. Like glacier slow but I learn. I'm working on my second one and it's going a lot quicker and with less un-doing. Let's hope I get it done more quickly this time.
