Good things come in three's

So the saying goes. I don't know about that, but I do know that it's a good thing that many moulds come in threes because that's about how many attempts I need to get it right.

A very sweet friend had bought me some moulds for my birthday. Here's the first of them.

I made them all slightly different, trying to figure out what's the best colouring to use. I know I want more of a beige background. All are scented with Green Garden by Brambleberry

I like the oatmeal bits in this, I think it adds to the textured look. A happy accident really.

This one, the stems were done in green, and then I thought I'd darken it with some black.

I like this one the least. I don't think I gave enough contrast.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one you like, or if you have other ideas for colours and scents.

Have a great week.

  1. I like the top one best! The oatmeal makes the soap look like the paper the bamboo is painted on.

    2. How can you tell we're related Teresa? ;) The top one is my favourite too and I think it has to do with the oatmeal and the fact that it's more beige than the other two looks.

The joys of living in the boonies right? You get your solitude from people and the internet.

  2. I saw the third one and thought, "Ooh, I like that one." And then I read that you like that one the least, LOL! I do like the first one, too. It's such a pretty design - I love the bamboo.

    1. That's hilarious Jenny! But it just goes to show how everyone has different tastes and that's why I can't make things based only on what I like.

I agree, the design is so pretty, very suitable year round.

  3. I also, like Jenny, like the third best. It seems you're the only one who doesn't,hihi. But luckily, you always make several versions,so everyone can pick their favourite, lol. The fragrance sounds so suitable for the design and I think any fragrance containing 'bamboo' would suit also.

    1. That's the great thing about us all being so unique, right Maja, we all like different things. You're right, I can keep trying different versions and I'll probably try out a few more colour ideas before I narrow it down. Yes, I should see if I have some bamboo scent I could use.

  4. I love oats in soap so I would say the 1st soap it's my favorite! But the 3rd one is really perfectly done , so this one is also a beautiful soap! For the 4th soap you can add some oats to the 3rd soap ;).

    1. Thank you Nat! I agree, oats in soap not only looks pretty but adds some nice scrubbiness. I'm definitely going to try your idea of adding oats to the 3rd soap.

  5. I think the first one is absolutely perfect!! Green Garden, is that a forest-y scent? The name sounds like it smells wonderful. I really like the oatmeal flakes too... it really did turn out perfectly.

    1. Thank you Gordana! It's interesting to see how it's pretty much evenly divided in terms of favourites. I guess the colouring makes it look natural which is a good thing for soap.
