I thought I was at an age where I didn't care anymore what others did or thought. Obviously I'm wrong. On the Shout out to Melt & Pour Facebook group, everyone's been gearing up for Valentine's. Hearts abound, hearts galore, beautiful uses of hearts and wonderful creations. Okay, I think to myself, I'll join in the fun, I'll do some Valentine's themed soaps as well.
First, I took a bunch of leftover soaps to make the hearts, then I made a loaf and two individual guest soaps. Inevitably, the idea in my head is better than what comes out, and the real product is better than what the picture shows. In case you're wondering why the ones in the loaves don't look like hearts from the angle the picture is taken, it's because they're tilted on their sides. They're a little off, like their owner.

Coffee heart because coffee = love

I call this one elusive heart |

I don't know why, but my loaves, before I cut them, always reminds me of rowing. I't's not like I have ever been on a rowing team. |

The whole fam family of hearts |
Ideally I would've been making Chinese New Year themed soaps instead of Valentine's soaps, but I don't have that adorable sheep mould yet. Maybe in another 12 years I'll get around to it.
There's an adorable sheep mold? The coffee heart is a little scary but I love all the other ones! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the sheep mould is adorable and I'm seriously considering it (along with 20 million other moulds). Here's a link to an example of one. http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mEvX6yzkd1bWtJl3EsU4YKQ.jpg
DeleteThe coffee one is definitely better looking IRL than in pictures, but the rest are definitely more cheerful.
I love all of the pastel colors you used. Very try Valentines-y. See through soaps are so fun! I love your creative ideas on this. BTW/my daughter used one of your soaps from the swap during bath time last night and absolutely loved it, she kept saying "I love this soap," she couldn't stop smelling it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle! I'm not a real pastel-y person IRL, but I'll make exceptions for soap. I'm so happy to be using normal clear soap again so you actually can see through rather than the low sweat stuff that seemed to get blurry.
DeleteI'm thrilled your daughter likes the soap, although I guess I can't really take credit for how fabulous the scent is. :)
Ok, weird. How did my Very "very" Valentines-y turn into Very "try" Valentines-y? Where is the edit button :(
ReplyDeleteDon't you love autocorrect and the inability to edit your comment? :P
DeleteLovely soaps for Valentine! I also made some heart soaps, but mine aren't so colored as yours...Maybe one day:)
ReplyDeleteWish you a lovely weekend, Monica!
Thank you Nat, you are always so sweet! You use all natural ingredients which makes your soaps naturally beautiful.
DeleteHope you have a great weekend as well!
Pretty Valentine's Day soaps, Monica! I especially like the loaf soap. It looks like you got some great inspiration from the FB group.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! I can see why loaves are popular with the MP group as well, so much easier to make one loaf than several individual soaps at a time. Yes the FB group are great for inspiration.
DeleteYou did great, Monica, I didn't even try to catch up with everyone to be in time for the Valentine's Day! I like your 'diving' hearts, they're quite unique and original!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maja! You've got enough new soaps on the go to keep you busy, not to mention your new world wide store that you're having to upkeep. Thanks for the compliment, they definitely look better live.

ReplyDeleteI love your Valentine's soaps, the colors are so pretty - I love that blue!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cee! I love being able to use up scrap soaps and still make something productive with them. And welcome back!
DeleteWhat a fun project and great gifts =) The Valentine’s theme worked out well for you =)
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne-Marie! There's a lot of great inspiration out there for Valentine themed soaps and I took advantage of them. :)
