Peer Pressure

I thought I was at an age where I didn't care anymore what others did or thought. Obviously I'm wrong. On the Shout out to Melt & Pour Facebook group, everyone's been gearing up for Valentine's. Hearts abound, hearts galore, beautiful uses of hearts and wonderful creations. Okay, I think to myself, I'll join in the fun, I'll do some Valentine's themed soaps as well.

First, I took a bunch of leftover soaps to make the hearts, then I made a loaf and two individual guest soaps. Inevitably, the idea in my head is better than what comes out, and the real product is better than what the picture shows. In case you're wondering why the ones in the loaves don't look like hearts from the angle the picture is taken, it's because they're tilted on their sides. They're a little off, like their owner.

Coffee heart because coffee = love
I call this one elusive heart

I don't know why, but my loaves, before I cut them, always reminds me of rowing. I't's not like I have ever been on a rowing team.

Cut up

The whole fam family of hearts

Ideally I would've been making Chinese New Year themed soaps instead of Valentine's soaps, but I don't have that adorable sheep mould yet. Maybe in another 12 years I'll get around to it.

Have a great week!

  1. There's an adorable sheep mold? The coffee heart is a little scary but I love all the other ones! :)

    1. Yeah, the sheep mould is adorable and I'm seriously considering it (along with 20 million other moulds). Here's a link to an example of one. http://thumbs3.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mEvX6yzkd1bWtJl3EsU4YKQ.jpg

The coffee one is definitely better looking IRL than in pictures, but the rest are definitely more cheerful.

  2. I love all of the pastel colors you used. Very try Valentines-y. See through soaps are so fun! I love your creative ideas on this. BTW/my daughter used one of your soaps from the swap during bath time last night and absolutely loved it, she kept saying "I love this soap," she couldn't stop smelling it.

    1. Thanks Michelle! I'm not a real pastel-y person IRL, but I'll make exceptions for soap. I'm so happy to be using normal clear soap again so you actually can see through rather than the low sweat stuff that seemed to get blurry.

I'm thrilled your daughter likes the soap, although I guess I can't really take credit for how fabulous the scent is. :)

  3. Ok, weird. How did my Very "very" Valentines-y turn into Very "try" Valentines-y? Where is the edit button :(

    1. Thanks Jenny! I can see why loaves are popular with the MP group as well, so much easier to make one loaf than several individual soaps at a time. Yes the FB group are great for inspiration.

  6. You did great, Monica, I didn't even try to catch up with everyone to be in time for the Valentine's Day! I like your 'diving' hearts, they're quite unique and original!

    1. Thanks Maja! You've got enough new soaps on the go to keep you busy, not to mention your new world wide store that you're having to upkeep. Thanks for the compliment, they definitely look better live.
