Inspiration…gone awry

Over spring break, I was looking on Pinterest and the entire Soap Queen video tutorial for MP projects for some inspiration. I came across Anne-Marie's licorice candy soap and I thought it looked so cool! Well my little guest soap isn't quite as big, so the effect wasn't quite the same but since I don't have the star anise EO and I already used a different scent with my rose loaf, it's probably good that it doesn't look exactly like licorice candy.

Have a great week!

  1. I remember seeing this soap of Anne-Marie and yes,it looks very effective and real, but yours is also beautiful. I like this pale pink.
I can't tell how big are your pieces, but.if I were you, I'd cut every piece in four, so they look more candy like.

    1. Aww, thanks Maja! Hers was way more cool though. My mould isn't that deep which is why I can't get the same look, but you're right, cutting it into 4 would make it bite sized, like the candy.

  2. So what scent did you end up using on this? I wasn't sure what you meant by "and I already used a different scent on my Rose loaf". This looks pretty and edible as it is!

    1. I think I used exotic fruit smoothie, but I'm too lazy to go and smell it. :D

What I meant was I already used the wrong scent for the Rose Loaf, so I repeated the wrong scent on this one as well. It's nice enough with these colours but definitely not a licorice candy. :)

  3. Even though your mold wasn't as deep, the soaps still turned out beautifully! I made a similar soap years ago kinda like this. It was pale pink with a layer of black running through the middle and scented with a Black Rose FO. I love the pink and black together. The licorice candy look is really cool!

    1. Thanks Jenny, I bet your soaps turned out way better than mine. The colour combo is quite lovely isn't it, although black with anything, you can't go wrong.

  4. Love this soap!! The pink and black together are great!! Reminds me of those mint bars they give out after dinner at restaurants except those are black, green and white. You should try that sometime.

    1. Thanks Michelle! You're right, I should colour them black, green and white and scent it minty and call it "Shortly After Eight." :D
