The Rose Loaf (Part II)

In case you're wondering, there is no part III to this, so hopefully this second instalment doesn't stink like some second movies in a trilogy. Actually it won't because it smells deliciously of strawberries!

Although the loaf looked very pretty as a whole, I decided to cut it to see how it'd look in slices. It looked, well, small for one. This is a guest loaf and I should've divided it into 5 pieces instead of 8, would've made each slice less insignificant and more of an actual bar.

The other thing slicing it reminded me, is that I need to scratch the surface every time I pour in another layer. I had to re-glue some pieces because they came apart when cutting. I also need to invest in a proper cutter if I'm going to continue making loaves because as you can see from the photos, between just cutting with an average knife and a lazy soaper, the edges are rough and the slices are uneven. I wasn't even drinking any wine when I cut those slices!

This is my "movie photo." Like in ads for tv shows, where they have the main character in the front and all the supporting cast in behind.

This is what I get for being lazy and not cleaning up the slices.

Have a great week!

  1. I don't think it looks bad; you can call it "Rustic Rose" if you do think it's a bit rough-cut. :) Gorgeous colors, too.

    1. Rustic Rose, that's a great name, thanks! Yeah the colouring I do like, it actually worked out more or less as I planned.

  2. Have you ever tried this cutter? I use a similar cutter with my cp soap and it makes easy clean cuts.

Can you spray each layer with witch hazel to help with stick or would that only help with sweating? I know very little about mp soap but I sometimes put a layer of mp soap on my cp soaps and spraying with wh has helped keep things together.

Rustic Rose is a great name for your soap! The gradient of the colors are really pretty. They are very fancy! Luv it!

    1. I have a similar cutter Michelle, but with the crinkle cut. I think my problem this time was trying to cut too thin a slice and not having a guide.

I sprayed the layers with rubbing alcohol, but forgot to scratch up each layer which I found really helps them adhere.

Yeah I think I'll go with that name, it's a great name and I'm glad you like the layers. :)

    1. Thanks Cee! I agree, cutting it up really shows off the layers better.

    1. It is part 1 Maja, just cut up. But this way I got to cheat on my weekly blog by just extending showing showing the same soap. Strawberry scent with roses is sure to confuse some people. :D
