She Sells Seashells

With the beautiful weather and the proximity to the beach, I've decided to stay with the beach theme. I've had this mould for a while now, but this is the first time I'm trying it out.

I should've (coulda, woulda) re-watched the Soapqueen tv episode where she makes the clam shell soap but I thought I could do it from memory (hah!) Why I keep deluding myself into thinking I can remember things is beyond me. I like to think this is what Mother Nature would've created if she was smoking some of her other creations. ;)

At least the background for the soaps is beautiful.

Scented with Green Garden from WSP.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things is not the same.

I think I'll call this one Ariel's bra. (Yes, I've had some wine, why do you ask?)

  1. Looks pretty good for a first try! And as long as it smells nice. :) But, yes, watch her video. It's very helpful.

    1. It's not realistic looking like Anne-Marie's soap but in bright sunshine it doesn't look too bad, eh Teresa? It does smell quite nice, although I probably should've gone with something like BB's Sea Moss instead to stick with the ocean theme.

I watched her video again after I made the soaps, so I'll have to try it again and attempt to make it more like hers.

    1. Thanks Silvia. Yeah I'm putting all this effort into summer soaps when I'm not doing any craft fairs, and they're going to look so out of place come Christmas. But maybe the Little Mermaid will be a good way to get people to buy this one. ;)

  3. Acutally, it doesn't look much different (when seen from above), it only looks like mummy-shell! You should have searched further, I'm sure you would have found daddy, too! Well, you have made a real summer associated collection so far, I wonder what comes next!? Looks great Monica, don't be so harsh on yourself!
Did i drink wine or am I just short sighted for not seeing a mermaid?

    1. That's such a great idea Maja, why didn't I think of that? A family of seashells, that would make a great gift!

Now you're making me think I need to start working on a fall collection, like a fashion designer. Thanks for your support, you're wonderful!

No, you're not short sighted at all Maja, I was referencing Disney's The Little Mermaid. My jokes aren't always obvious which is why I'm still looking for a day job. ;)

    2. Ooo, Ariel.....I really don't remember the cartoon from my childhood (except I know the plot) and if there is a modern remake- I've never seen it! So,forgive my adultness!

    3. I totally admire your adultness and the fact you could escape the clutches of Disney even with a daughter.

  4. I think it looks great! I don't find many shells that are completely perfect, and I think yours is very realistic. I love that you have a theme and are sticking to it. I just seem to jump from one thing to another.

    1. Great to "see" you again Veronica, life on the farm is very busy these days? You're so right about shells not being perfect each time and if they are, they're probably farmed.

I don't usually stick to a theme either, but with the summer heat, it's been spurring me to think more summery.

And indeed, you should have a big collection of summer soap by now!

    1. Thanks Nat, it's you guys who keep me inspired with your works. I just feel like I have to keep up. :) I definitely have a good summer collection, now I have to start thinking of the other seasons. Bright sunlight for lighting makes everything look good. ;)

    1. Thanks Jenny! I think it's the natural background that makes the shell look good. I'd love to see your shell creation, it must be beautiful.
