When I quit my job over a year ago, the only thing I missed was my friend with whom I'd go walking at lunchtime with. Since she lives in town, and I live in the 'burbs, that was our time to see each other, during the weekday lunch hours. I got to see her once when I was off, and we have a lovely time. Last year, she finally got her Canadian citizenship and she requested a dozen maple leaf soaps.
For some reason, after she put in her order, we never ended up meeting up. She thought I was mad at her, I thought she was mad at me, and neither of us wanted to broach the subject for the longest time. I finally decided to email her and see what was up. Turned out we weren't mad at each other, just some emails went missing.
So after probably one and a half years, we're finally going to meet up again. She still wants the maple leaf soaps she said, but they'll be given away as Canada Day gifts rather than as a celebration of her making it through her citizenship exam.
The picture has nothing to do with anything, it just appealed to my warped sense of humour.
Laxatives...bwahahahaha! Why is that so funny? I don't know, but it is. And is that what happened? Sounds like the same thing with me and W. There must be a conspiracy by computer gremlins to make old friends have falling outs. :P
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys got together!
Laxatives are funny because they're one step above base poop jokes. Yep, it's a matter of not communicating rather than just plain miscommunication. I know there are computer gremlins that eat my emails because I'm sure I didn't just compose the email in my head. :P
ReplyDeleteOr composted the email in your head? ;D
DeleteThat would explain the funky smell, although it wouldn't be so bad if I could germinate some good ideas.
DeleteThat is the downside of electronic communication I guess :( I had the same happen between myself and a really good friend. It was nearly 5 years before we ran into each other and realized it had to do with lost or forgotten emails. I'm glad you and your friend could begin again and that everything was figured out.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure of this situation, because I have had an old friend get really mad at me and not talk to me for years. And now she's probably not talking to me ever again. You're right, electronic communication is great for its speed and efficiency, but it can also cause a lot of grief when it gets lost or takes off on a vacation.
