Is it Spring Yet?

Because I'm still in hibernation mode. Not as much as say if I were living back east and wouldn't be able to stick my nose out the door without it getting frostbitten immediately. But still, it's dark in the morning when I leave the house and it makes me want to go back inside and pull the covers over my head until spring arrives.

And that's my excuse for not having anything done for this week in terms of having something new to share. However, I thought I'd share this post on blogging which I found appropriate and reflects what I feel about my blog.

Hope you have a lovely week and I'll try and be more inspired by next weekend.

  1. It is hard to get ones butt moving when it's dark and cold and you're tired from work. I keep reminding myself of my buddy Russell who works full time, has to travel a lot for his job and also travels for book signings and still manage to crank out a book or two a year in addition to many short stories. He makes me feel like a slacker but also inspires me to work harder (wake up earlier, spend less time on social media, etc).

I hope you'll get stuff done this week that you want to accomplish!

    1. Your friend Russell is ex-military right? He's trained to get things done. Me, not so much. And social media's all part of building up your business, so it's a good reason to stay on it. :)

  2. If I lived where you live, I would not want to go out at all! We are having an unusually "cold" weather at 24F. It feels great not to be hot and sticky.
Thanks for the link on blogging. I enjoyed it and glad to find a new blog to explore. :-)

    1. We all have weather envy of where you live Silvia. ;) I know that compared to lots of other places, I have it amazingly good, in fact, we haven't had any precipitation for 15 days now, but goodness, those dark mornings makes it hard to get up.

Glad you enjoyed reading the blog as well, it's always interesting to see other people's blogs.

  3. We need some warm sunshine and not darkness when we leave our homes in the morning!!! Lack of sunlight means lack of energy- so they say.

    Spring is around the corner!

    1. I agree Carrie. It'd be nice to set my own hours or live closer to work so commuting wouldn't seem so daunting. You're right, spring is around the corner, especially for those of us with milder climates.

  4. It's tough getting out of bed when it's still dark out. Still, it's hot weather I can't stand. Thanks for sharing the link about blogging - I enjoyed it! And I hope you're feeling more inspired soon!

    1. I guess when you live in the south, the heat is more the problem, isn't it Jenny? I'm glad to share other good blogs, I think there are so many wonderful bloggers out there, I could spend all day just reading and reflecting on what people share. I'm hoping to have something new to share this week, thanks!

  5. I read that other blog post - it's so fitting, isn't it? I guess we have to examine why we blog in the first place and go from there.
I would, like the writer of that post, MUCH rather have repeat readers and gather friendships and colleagues than score high numbers of followers who only come that one time.
I have met SO many interesting, intelligent, highly creative and super insightful people writing my two blogs. I finally figured out recently that that outcome is exactly what I wanted - so it is good. Connections are good.
Stay warm, take some omega 3's - the spring will be here soon! It's already lunar new year!

    1. Like you Lindsey, I'm quite content with a small group of people who come and visit me on my blog regularly than a whole lot who just visit once and never return. I am so happy to have developed friendships with people I've met on these blogs. You guys are all so encouraging and have great insights and I really consider you all friends.

Someone on a soaping page on FB asked if blogging was dead; I'd have to say no because you learn so much more about a person on their blog post than you could just by looking at their instagram or pinterest posts.

I really can't complain, we have such nice weather here on the west coast compared to the rest of North America. Happy Chinese New Year!

  6. Monica, I agree with what you say about blogging being dead...you learn so much more about the person and their thought processes through a blog post rather than a quick snapshot, that's why I enjoy visiting blogs too and can't see that ending.

On a side note - I am in love with that retro typewriter keyboard, coolest thing ever!!!

    1. I learn so much about the personality behind the craft and I learn so much about the process in getting to the final results. And how often do people respond to a pin or a picture?

You are so great with sharing your experiences with us Cee, and I don't think I'd get that just off your pins.

I know that is cool isn't it? I'm sure my dad still has an original of that somewhere in the garage.

  7. I could say the same as you said, Monica, I am also kind of lazy these months and I don't even feel like soaping which I find strange... :)
Thanks for the link, lovely post!
    Have a nice week!

    1. I doubt you're ever truly lazy though Nat, just wanting to be. It's hard to soap when your mind isn't truly into it. I know when you're ready to soap again though, you're going to wow us as always with your designs.

Hope you have a great week as well. :)

  8. Ugh! I know how you feel Monica. I thought this winter I'd keep myself busy with soap, knitting, reading but all I feel like doing is hiding under a blanket on the couch watching old movies. This winter has been too longer and I am very much looking forward to green grass. I know what you mean about the darkness, I love when it is light outside at 5 am... makes me feel like moving. Let's keep our fingers crossed for an early spring :)

Just read, write, be yourself. I like that. Good advice for bloggers. I feel the same... I'd rather have a small group of followers that actually enjoy what I'm blogging about than thousands of collected invisible people. It is sad that so many have moved away from blogging because I feel like I've become more connected with people in the blogosphere than I have on other social networking sites.

    1. See, I don't even get your winters Michelle, so I really have no right to complain. I think if I could do everything under a big blanket in front of the fireplace, I'd be much more productive. I know the time will go quickly and before I know it, spring will be here, so I really should get off my butt and do more.

Are we the minority to find blogging useful and fun? I think it's the best of both worlds, showing people what you've got in terms of a product but also tells them who you are in your writing. Hopefully blogging will see a comeback.
