Holy craft fairs Batman

I completed the second of four craft fairs so far, and can I just say for the record that I am completely in awe of those people who run a household, have a job and work fairs? As I told one lady, I'm happy that I got myself dressed this morning, I can't imagine trying to get myself AND several children dressed and out the door as Jennifer of The Basket Lady does (3 kids!) Then there's Kirinia of Kirina's Krafts who has a baby and works farmer's markets and craft fairs year round.

Happy to say, I sold some of the soaps that I hadn't sold in the past, like my pterodactyl in amber and 2 of 3 of my large LEGO, um, I mean building block, men. Like these ones.

Strange thing is, I didn't sell any of my Christmas themed soaps. Guess I'm not the only one not ready for Christmas yet.

Are you excited about Christmas or are the stores putting out Christmas decorations too soon in your opinion?

  1. We all do what we can, but, yeah, those ladies you mentioned are pretty amazing! Hooray for having a good second show!

What is this Christmas you speak of? I'm in denial.

    1. They are definitely more type A than I'll ever be Teresa. Course, you took all the ambition genes in our family as well. ;)

I'm in denial about Christmas as well, I'm thinking this year, I'll just pretend it's not happening and hibernate.

  2. Really?? People don't feel Christmas-y yet?
Well, i suppose only sellers do, because every store has been decorated already, but I don't think people are actually buying holidays' gifts.
However, it's only beginning, so you still have plenty of time and it's good that you got rid of some old soaps, lol!

    1. Maybe some people feel Christmas-y Maja, I mean it's hard not to when the radio stations are playing Christmas tunes. My opinion is if they dialled it back, people would be more eager about Christmas and be inclined to buy more gifts. I hope you're right and people will buy up my old stock so I have a good excuse to go shopping for more supplies. ;)

  3. Congrats on your first 2 shows, and I hope you sell your Christmas soaps in the next 2!

I think having Christmas soaps is good for retail display, but does not necessarily sell better than regular soaps. However, packed as a gift set mixed with neutral soaps, it sells pretty well.

    1. Thanks Silvia. I think I'm being congratulated on surviving them right? ;)

I'm going to take your advice and maybe package up some Chirstmas themed soaps with some regular soaps. At least it'll seem less overwhelming that way.

  4. Congratulations on your 2 craft fairs, Monica and wish you a lot of succes with the next 2!
I haven't made any Xmas soaps yet, but I hope for tomorrow! :)
I think it's too early for Xmas presents, even if we are sourrounded by all this maybe too soon, so don't worry : there is still plenty of time to get your beautiful soaps bought!

    1. Thanks Nat! I look forward to seeing your Christmas soaps as well as any desserts you're planning for the holiday season. :)

I'm hoping as we get closer to December, people will be thinking more about Christmas and stocking stuffers. I'd love to have less to pack home from each craft fair.

  5. Are you ready for a long nap yet? lol! I hope the fairs are going great! It is wonderful that you get share all of your wonderful creations with everyone. Legos are so popular, the soaps will make awesome gifts! I've not noticed as many Christmas things this year as I have in years passed so I'm not sick of Christmas yet. If I had been at the fair I would have been all over the Christmas themed soaps, but I've noticed everyone around me is resisting Christmas still so maybe the next two craft fairs the soaps will sell... once we're closer to the holiday. Once Thanksgiving passes it always seems like people are about the Christmas :D

    1. I am so ready for a long nap Michelle, I'm happy that I haven't fallen asleep at work yet. :D You're so sweet to think my soaps are wonderful.

It's interesting to hear there hasn't been as much Christmas stuff for you this year; Costco of course starts putting out Christmas stuff in August and there was a petition started to not do Christmas stuff until after Remembrance (or Veterans Day in your case) Day. I like the idea of waiting until after your Thanksgiving is over before starting Christmas stuff, that makes sense to me.

  6. I'm glad that your craft shows are going well, Monica! Best of luck to you on the upcoming shows. It will be interesting to see how we manage Christmas this year since we are expecting a move cross-country at the end of December. The holidays are just kinda in the back of my mind with everything else going on, but I guess I better start shopping soon!

    1. I'm more glad that craft fair season will be over soon Jenny. ;) I don't know how people do craft fairs week after week, but I guess you get into the groove of it after a while.

Are you guys moving again? I thought you'd just finished moving, or do I just have my timelines wrong? Shopping, what's that? You just have to give everyone one of your amazing soap packages and be done with it, don't you? ;)
