Silver Linings

Craft fairs are fun…if you're into that sort of thing. I had a craft fair this weekend, and unfortunately for everyone, turnout wasn't great. Could've been because it's a long weekend here, or the fact that the weather was so nice outside or a combination of these and a few other factors I haven't thought of.

Setting up
What I do like about craft fairs is that I get to spend time with a dear friend (I call her my sales manager since she does my sales pitches for me) and I get to meet some wonderful people. I like to think I was also there to provide some supplies for people (bull clips for Parisa and a display stand for Theresa).

Completed set up on day 1.
Theresa of Edbility360. She makes her own fabulous shortbread and has really good coffee blends.

Parisa of Standout Boutique. Lovely person, beautiful jewellery.

(l to r) Cherelle, Bonnie and Debbie. These amazing ladies from Costco kept us hyped up on sugar (Lindt chocolates , Dad's cookies, coconut buns from Chinatown).

Thank you so much ladies, for all the goodies, smiles and great conversation. I hope we'll see each other again.

Here's looking at you Creampuff

by GG.

When I did my first craft fair ever, I met the lovely GG of Creampuff by GG. She loved my pig soap since her signature is a cute little pig and asked me to make some pig soaps for her. We worked together on the scent and I made her a few soaps that she loved.

However, water soluble paper and I don't work well together and so I suggested we try having a custom made mould instead of GG's mascot. She asked if I would be able to fill in the details and I said of course! So to show her that it's possible, here's the first pig GG saw that drew her to my booth, but set into a frame.

This one is more of the pink that is GG's pig

But this one shows off the details better.

Mother's Day

I know it's a different day for Mother's Day elsewhere in the world, but for North Americans, yesterday was Mother's Day. So to all the moms out there, hope you had a great Mother's Day with lots of love and happiness.

April showers bring May flowers

And this is my flower for May. A tribute (or maybe it's more of a nose thumbing since it doesn't look so great) to the May birthdays, especially to my sister.

I could've sworn, but old age and senility being what they are, that I saw something on Pinterest on how to make rose soaps, but not using a mould. It was almost like making the fortune cookies where you fold it, and I thought (again, there's that word) that I had saved it to a board, but I couldn't find it for the life of me. So, what's a gal to do?

Improvise of course. I used some more left over pink soap, added liquid glycerine to try and keep it more supple and poured it in rounds. Too little soap in the mould and it would be brittle and crack; too much soap and it was hard to roll. Being obstinate though, I persevered and this time I remembered to use the Baby Rose FO.

I used a program called FotoFuze to eliminate the background. What do you think?

I used only Picasa to edit this one, which version is better?
Hope you have a great week!
