Facing Fears

So last week, I said I'd approach a swanky store to see if they would carry my soaps. That was step one, and it was difficult. Never having really done sales this was a tough thing to do. Fortunately, the two gentlemen who run the store are wonderfully friendly and easy to talk to.

I tend to prepare a whole long speech in my head, and then forget 3/4 of it as soon as I am in the actual situation and this time was no different. The speech I had in my head wasn't the one that came out, although I still got my point across I think. One thing that worked in my favour is that I did remember to bring a sample for them to take him to try out. Fingers crossed that they'll like it so much they'll want to put in an order. I won't know until I call tomorrow thought, so be sure to send positive thoughts my way.

  1. Sounds very promising! Fingers and toes crossed, can't wait to hear. Good for you to meet "face to face"- certainly when they sample your soap- it will sell itself!

    1. Thanks Carrie. It was good to go with a small self-made store because I thought they would be able to relate better, one business owner to another. I know the soaps are good quality, but hopefully they'll figure that out as well.

  2. Good job Monica! I'm not sure how I'd be in a "sales" sitch. It must have been tough, but you did it!!! Hopefully it gets easier each time you do it. I hope they LOVE your soap and place an order!! BTW which did you take and why? Just curious.

    1. I hope it was a good job Grace, and that I didn't sound like a babbling fool. ;) I have been putting it off and putting it off because I'm so scared of the what ifs, but you're right, it's supposed to get easier each time.

I took them the 3 chinese soaps because their store is asian themed, and also the mod soaps because being men, I figured they would like it more than say, a cupcake or something. :)

  3. WELL?? I can't wait to hear the answer! I wouldn't understand how anyone would not love your soap, anyway.
